Penn in Tours
Penn in Tours is a five-week immersive program in Tours, France, giving students the opportunity to improve their French at the Institut de Touraine or learn about French History through courses taught by UPenn professors at the Institut. All students live in a homestay with a French family and take all classes in French.
Why I Chose It

My Minor
Participating in Penn in Tours, would give me two credits in French, allowing me to finish my language requirement early, start working towards my minor in French and Francophone Studies earlier, and giving me more time to work on attaining my minor while balancing my other educational goals

Improving My Skills
Living in a homestay in France would provide me with the best opportunity to study the language, but also the best space to practice what I would learn in the classroom and apply it to my interactions with people and locals in the city and my host family.

Exploring More
Exploring other parts of France, aside from Paris during my first study abroad trip, would allow me to see parts of France that may be just as beautiful and cultural as Paris, but perhaps not as popular. It could also give me examples of place I may want to live in later in my life.
